Iglesia el Calvario is located in the heart of Orlando and is now approaching 25-years old. I have been the pastor here for the past seven years.

Shortly after arriving in Orlando, we began making plans for our new worship facility — which we have been in now for four years. Since then, we have almost tripled our Sunday attendance, currently reaching approximately 4,000 each week.

AGFS became our partners in ministry two and a half years ago. We needed help after construction, and AGFS came in, tailoring a unique loan program just for us that included a capital campaign and coaching. They were with us each step of the way to guide us throughout the whole process. I am very pleased with our partnership with AG Financial.

Throughout the years of working with Hispanic churches, I didn’t know of any that had a capital campaign. So it left me wondering, “We are a Hispanic church, we are growing, would a capital campaign work among us?” I read the testimonies from other pastors and yet I never thought it would work for us. You feel, “Wow, you know, it happens to them, but can it happen to me?”

I was somewhat skeptical at the beginning, but the more I was instructed and coached by the AGFS staff, the more convinced I was that this was something that could really work among Hispanic churches. It has been more than just a financial campaign; it has been a spiritual revival in the church.

Today we’re still excited, and the climate of the church is so positive. We haven’t seen a Sunday to this point without conversions. We are averaging about 150 conversions a month right now. We were extremely pleased with the results of our campaign not only from the financial aspect, but most importantly, from the spiritual experience we gained through the process.

Christian Center of Desert Hot Springs

Our goal was $350,000 and by the final Sunday we received $387,080 in pledges. Our first fruit offering was over $45,000. With it we were able to pay off the property and rejoice over what the Lord had done. We also continue to make progress with our plans for a new facility.
